How to pamper yourself at home for almost nothing

Pamper at home

Self care and pampering doesn’t have to be in expensive. There are much cheaper, easier and more private ways to pamper yourself at home.

That said, it can be hard to change your mindset (and your home) from a place of chaos to a place of indulgence. For this reason, we’ve put together some inspirational ideas to get you started.

Happy home pampering!

1. Hire a cleaner

Wouldn’t it be nice if the house tidied itself?

Well, you can have the next best thing by hiring a cleaner for the day. This is the ultimate indulgence especially if you are an exhausted single mum. You’ll feel better putting your feet up and pampering yourself when the dishes are done, the laundry put away and the floors are vacuumed.

With professional house cleaners, you can enjoy a stress-free time. You also get to enjoy being in a house that is both clean and comforting. If you worry about missing spots when you clean it on your own, a professional cleaner can take care of those blind spots. Keep in mind that they use special cleaning tools and techniques to tidy up things and various spaces in no time. If you want a little more time back in your daily routine, Pristine Home can help by setting up regular home cleaning services.

2. Get a massage

Forget about chores and responsibilities for a day, and treat yourself to a nice, long massage.

From around $50 per session, you can book a mobile massage service and have relaxation delivered to your door. You can choose from a variety of treatments and qualified therapists will give you a professional massage. For those on a budget, self-massage is another great way to pamper yourself at home. You can get a handheld massager online pretty cheaply nowadays.

3. Have a mani-pedi

A professional manicure and pedicure can be expensive. You can save money by doing it yourself.

All you need is a few tools: nail file, clippers, cotton pads, orange stick, polish, polish remover and press-on nails if you prefer. Throw in a foot/hand spa if you really want to take it to the next level.

Don’t worry if your nails don’t look as good as a hand model’s, practice makes perfect.

4. Take a relaxing bath

Soaking in a soothing bath goes a long way to get yourself in a calm, relaxed mood. Or maybe you want to feel energised and ready to face another work week.

Choose the right bath bombs and soaks and have plenty of skin-pampering treatments. You can even make your own from natural ingredients, like cucumber, avocado and sugar.

Create a self-care oasis in your bathroom. Surround your tub with candles, play your favourite tunes, sip wine and indulge in treats. Because you deserve it.

5. Give yourself a makeover

If you never have time to do your hair and makeup, pamper yourself at home with a major makeover.

Start with facials and masques to prep your skin and create a glowing canvas for cosmetics. Wash your hair, blow dry and style it like you’re about to go out on a date. Put on your nicest dress and take pictures, just because.

And don’t stress if you’re not that good at makeovers, YouTube has lots of tutorials you can follow.

6. Curl up with your favourite book

If reading relaxes you, curl up in bed with a good book or read in the bath while you’re sipping wine and eating chocolate.

8. Binge-watch movies and TV shows

A few hours (or an entire day–we won’t judge!) binge-watching your favourite movies and TV shows is a must for an at-home pamper session. There’s nothing like a great film or two to escape from reality and take your mind off every day worries.

If movies are not your thing, a long nap is another way to relax, recharge and pamper yourself at home. Just make sure to schedule your shut-eye earlier in the day so it doesn’t mess up your night’s sleep.

9. Move your body

Exercise may be the last thing on your mind when you think of pampering yourself at home.

According to Forbes.com:

“Self-care is not just about your mental health. It’s also about caring for your physical self, by eating healthy, taking adequate sleep, caring about your hygiene, exercising regularly, etc.”

Moving your body, even if it’s just dancing to a song or doing 10 minutes of yoga, can leave you feeling amazing. A relaxing yoga session has many benefits for your body and mind. All you need is a mat, a few feet of space and an app or video to guide you. Even better, do yoga outdoors and soak up the sun to boost the happy hormones.

10. Have tea with friends

Socialising is one of the most underrated ways to pamper yourself at home.

Living Well says:

“When it comes to wellbeing, other people matter. Evidence shows that connecting with others and forming good relationships – with family, friends and the wider community – are important for mental wellbeing. Building stronger, broader social connections in your life can increase your feelings of happiness and self-worth.”

So why not have a friend or family member over for tea/coffee? It doesn’t have to be an expensive party, your friend can bring the drinks while you take care of the food. Or you can set up a coffee date online with your BFF.

Sometimes a good laugh or heart-to-heart with someone who listens is just what we need to put our problems in perspective.
