Who doesn’t love a smoothie?
They are colourful, delicious, easy-to-make, and they can be super healthy.
However, a smoothie with too much fruit or dairy might be less health-conscience than we think, and we can be fooled into thinking all smoothies are equal, when they are not.
You are in control of the “health factor” when making your smoothie, stay healthy by:
- Keep the sugar down by swapping out sugary fruits for vegetables, especially greens, which have plenty of iron
- Instead of milk, use water to loosen your drink, or try coconut water which is great for increased energy levels
- Add vitamins or supplements, such as a greens powder or a collagen powder
- However tempting, avoid using ice cream and replace with natural yogurt
