When it comes to apps for cheapest fuel, Petrol Spy has everything you need. This free service uses crowdsourcing or data from other users to give you petrol prices all over the country, including diesel, unleaded and AdBlue. The app has a pretty impressive coverage of all fuel stations in Australia, plus daily price updates, historical fuel price graphs in metro areas (for unleaded and E10 petrol) and a chance to win a $25 fuel voucher. According to a 2019 Choice.com survey, Petrol Spy is one of the most accurate apps for cheapest fuel in Queensland, NSW, ACT and Victoria.

Fuel Map
Fuel Map is another crowdsourced app for cheapest petrol that shows station, brand and price information from other motorists. When you add a fuel price for example, other users across Australia can see it as well. If you live in NSW, Queensland or Western Australia, you’ll see real-time prices from government sources. The app is easy to use, with petrol stations pinned on the map and the last known price indicated. Petty
Search “app cheapest fuel” for iOS and you’ll find Petty at the top of the list. This app will set you back around $4.50 a year for premium features not found in other free fuel apps like Siri voice search so you can compare fuel prices while driving, 3-month historical trend data, and a useful home screen widget for the iPhone and Apple Watch. If accuracy is a big deal to you, you’ll be happy to know that data is pulled from government sources in Queensland, NSW, SA, WA and Tasmania. Pumped Fuel
Own an electric vehicle? Pumped Fuel is the app for you. It’s one of the few apps for cheapest fuel that shows electric charging stations on the map. Besides the usual fuel prices and petrol stations, it also shows current promotions for each station such as garage services and product specials so you can make informed decisions on the road. In addition, it displays the operating hours and facility information for stations (whether there’s a loo or not), so you don’t have to stop and waste time.

Vroom Vroom Vroom
VroomVroomVroom is a car rental comparison website with a handy fuel check app for people living in NSW, WA or Queensland. While coverage is not Australia-wide, the free service is solid and accurate. It uses government data to provide real-time prices for petrol stations in these states so you can find the cheapest fuel near you. Simply select your fuel type, compare petrol stations and prices, and get directions to your chosen station. For iOS users, Vroom comes with Siri voice search for hands-free fuel comparison while driving.

Like other apps for cheapest fuel on this list, Gas Buddy uses crowdsourcing to give you pricing information. Other than that, the app is easy to use and straightforward. Instead of showing a map, you immediately get a list of stations and prices near you and then it shows you directions to that station. Motor Mouth is a national fuel comparison app that relies on data from other drivers, fuel retailers and station operators. According to their website, Motor Mouth shows prices for 4,500 fuel stations across the country. The color-coded map makes it super easy to find the best prices: Red dots are the most expensive, yellow dots are mid-range and green means go (the cheapest). Save your favourite locations, track trends and fuel usage, and add petrol station and price information to earn points that you can exchange for rewards.
