Rebecca McKay
Strengths-Based Autism Support Teacher and NeuroFlexible Parent Coach at NeuroFlexible
With over 20 years of experience in the education and disability sectors, Rebecca McKay is a dedicated professional specializing in working with autistic and neurodiverse children, as well as those with developmental delays and behavioural challenges. Throughout her career, Rebecca has collaborated extensively with allied health providers and Autism specialists, fostering a deep passion for supporting neurodiverse children and their families.
Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Education, specializing in early childhood development, and has a background in Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Her expertise encompasses many parenting challenges, from managing tantrums and meltdowns to navigating big emotions and sensory regulation. She is adept at building communication skills and promoting self-care independence in children.
In the past few years, Rebecca has shifted her focus from one-on-one work with children to up-skill parents to reduce stress for the parent and child, foster stronger connections through understanding why a child acts a particular way and helping parents to find the communication behind challenging behaviours.
At NeuroFlexible, Rebecca serves as a Strengths-Based Autism Support Teacher and NeuroFlexible Parent Coach, where she empowers parents with the understanding, knowledge, and strategies they need to support their children at and from home. She firmly believes that parents are their children’s greatest educators and therapists.
Rebecca’s personal experience as a homeschooling mother of three neurodivergent children enriches her professional insight. Her love for understanding how children learn and what they need to thrive drives her commitment to her work. Outside of her professional endeavours, Rebecca raises orphan native birds and animals for WIRES during the summer months – because you can never love and support enough babies and their potential!
