How to speed up your daily morning routine

We’d all love to have a relaxing morning every day. Some people go the gym, head out for a swim, meet a friend for a coffee and drop the kids off at school, all before arriving at work – so, how do they do it comes to mind?

Well, we’re not suggesting these tips will free up that much of your time (sadly!), but there are a few things you can do to speed up your daily routine and save time on a morning.

We’ve outlined some of the best time saving tips below.

Select your outfit the night before

There’s nothing quite like rushing around on a morning trying to throw an outfit together to whiz the time away. By picking an outfit out the night before, you’ll avoid any last-minute panics. Plan your outfits for several days ahead and that way you can make sure everything you need is clean and ironed ready to pop on and head out of the door.

  • Bulk iron your clothes on a Sunday to prep for the week ahead.

Eat breakfast at work

Now this is not possible for everyone but one of the best ways to save a little time on a morning is by having your breakfast once you arrive at work. By having a quick bowl of cereals, oats or fruit when you arrive, you’ll be able to spend ten more minutes getting ready at home – or snoozing your alarm if you prefer.

  • Buy a container or jar to pop your breakfast in then simply add milk when you arrive.

Shower on an evening

Getting in the shower on a morning is a great way to wake up and freshen up instantly but if you find it’s taking up too much of your time, try switching up your routine. By showering and washing your hair on an evening before you get in bed, you’ll wake up fresh for the day ahead and cut out twenty minutes of your morning routine.

  • Showering at work can also be an option if you choose to run or cycle before you start the working day.

Make the most of gadgets

Most gadgets have been invented to help speed up an existing task so make the most of them. From ditching the towel and drying your hair with a hairdryer, to brushing your teeth with a powerful electric toothbrush, like the Philips automatic toothbrush, there are so many ways you can use gadgets to shave a little time off of your morning routine.

  • Try using a coffee machine to make your morning coffee or a hot brush to dry and straighten your hair in one go.

Make the most of your commute

While commuting can take up a lot of our time, it’s not time wasted if you make use of it. From learning a new language, to reading a book, listening to a podcast or doing your makeup on the bus, use the time on your commute to do something to help save you time in other parts of your life.

  • If you drive to work, try taking public transport to see if it gives you more time to do other things.

Move your alarm clock far away

If all else fails, move your alarm clock away from your bedside. By shifting it to the other side of the room, you’ll actually have to get up out of bed to turn it off and there’s much less chance of you pressing the snooze button.

  • Setting your alarm a little earlier also never fails to give you a little extra time!

By following these top tips you’ll be able to make every minute count and save precious time every morning.
