My child is 5 and nearing completion of her first year of school. The school puts on an end of year concert, it happens to fall on an evening that she spends with her dad. Her dad is to have her from 3 – 6, she wil need dropping at the school at 5:30 so half hour earlier than his time, he is also welcome to stay and watch as I have made clear in emails. I have tried communicating in email and in person with him about her dispointment if she can’t attend, he doesn’t seem bothered and is saying he wil not take her, he wil stick to normal drop off at 6 meaning even if I do take her at 6 she would be late and miss out on the start. Anyone else been in a similar situation, any advice on how to explain this to a 5, yr old who is super dispointed that the concert she has been working on all year with school she won’t be able To attend.

Wow that is pretty bad. All I can suggest is that you are honest with her and explain the reason she will not or attend late. I feel for her.

Could you call on the school for help i.e. as them to contact him?

Your ex sounds really difficult. Has he got something else on??? I would make him aware that his daughter is missing out due to his actions. Terrible really.
