So my kid is 9 nearly 10 and it has been just me and him since he was 1. I have struggled with finding work due to having to be home for him. I currently have a Monday to Friday job 8.30 to 3 which is great but I have been offered a full time position with a more managerial role but I would have to work a Saturday night. I only have my parents to help and they are a half hour drive away and are getting on a bit in there age. I would prefer not to ask for there help as they have in the past and said i needed to spend more time with my son, even though I spend every minute I can. I really would like this promotion as it would be more money and I’m trying to save for a house.
My question is do I take the job and ask them for help again or let my boss down and stay at my Monday to Friday hours?

I have found that our kids need us when they are young but they really need us more as teenagers. Get back to work, earn the money, get your home and then allow yourself to time to be present for your child when he/she is older. This is just my advice based on my personal experience.

It really down to what you can handle and what you want from life. If you are looking to achieve and build a better future I’d suggest going for it. You might always wonder “what if” if you don’t.

Ask your parents for help. I would.
