I’m in a relationship, it’s been less then 6 months and we live separately with our own parents. I’ve got two girls, work fulltime but still get some centrelink and FTB. We are looking at getting a joint account to start putting money in to save to move out in 6-12 months (finding a rental is hard atm). I went onto centrelink site but it only mentions declaring if living. Can anyone advise if they have opened a joint account without living together and if that’s okay?
As soon as we live together we will definately declare, not looking to Rory the system. I don’t have time to sit on phone for 2 hours to find out but I don’t want to do the wrong thing either

I am pretty sure you can have a joint account but not be classed as a couple. It’s only if you are living together. All the best with the saving.

If you make a claim you would need to declare that account that you have 50% ownership, however I don’t think that would affect parenting payments, just asset amount.

Slightly different but my ex and I haven’t lived together for 8 years and we still have a joint bank account for our kids. I declare it as a joint account when making a claim but it doesn’t tie us into a relationship.

No this is not counted as living together.
