My partner and I both have our kids full time and will be moving in together next year. He’s offered to be the secondary parent for my kids school enrolment (They have no contact with their dad in years sadly) He feels that using the word “Step father/step dad” is more for when people are married, is there any alternatives? I feel “guardian” or “carer” is for foster care kids.

Is this just for the enrolment form? I’d just use carer or ‘mother’s partner’.

Can you just say “friend” or “family friend”?
